SABIC sets a new standard in the packaging of long shelf life milk.
The modern way of life requires a long preservation of dairy products and there is a particular growing demand for long shelf life milk.
With the introduction of a new HDPE bottle grade in Europe , SABIC now enables the further breakthrough of long shelf life milk at the expense of pasteurised milk.
The requirements for the packaging of long shelf life milk are extremely high. The milk must both be protected against UV radiation and the HDPE bottle must not interact with the milk.
The newly developed SABIC® HDPE B6246LS is a specialty product which was particularly designed to combine superb organoleptic performance with high bottle stiffness and impact resistance. Furthermore, it offers an excellent processing performance due to an excellent lot-to-lot consistency and has already proven excellent performance in multiple layer bottle concepts.
SABIC® HDPE B6246LS is supplied as an uncoloured granulate and thereby provides the converter a unique possibility to select the optimum balance between costs and colour settings required for every specific application.
SABIC is convinced that proprietary colour blending is a major step to the reduction of overall packaging costs as opposed to (white/black) pre-blended resin. It provides the converter a possibility to create a competitive edge due to tailor made bottle concepts.
SABIC® HDPE B6246LS has recently been introduced successfully at well-established converters and end users in the dairy business.
As the market leader in the HDPE bottle segment in Europe, SABIC is committed to continue with the development of HDPE blow moulding grades. Our grade developments target multi-functional applications and enable our customers to optimise continuously their operational efficiency.
The converters can expect substantial cost saving (up to ca. 10%) based on using SABIC® HDPE B6246LS in a propriety-blending concept. This cost saving potential is related to overall lower operational costs by using SABIC® HDPE B6246LS in combination with colour master batches. Any required investments in dosing equipment will be quickly repaid.
