Long-term partnerships for long-term growth
SABIC and Petroplast Vinora (PEV) have maintained an excellent business relationship for more than 20 years. Since 1985, PEV, the biggest final processor of PE films in Switzerland, has relied on SABIC for a regular supply of raw materials.
Herbert Köppel, Purchasing Director of Petroplast Vinora, remembers the first contact with the Riyadh headquarters: "In 1985, I called SABIC to ask for the LLDPE price. Together with SABIC, I organized the transport of the first LLDPE shipment from Saudi Arabia to Switzerland. We have remained a customer ever since, and have never regretted our initial decision. SABIC is a reliable supplier that provides excellent service," confirms Köppel.
Biggest final processor
With a workforce of 440, PEV produces single and multilayer films using extrusion techniques. The group also prints and upgrades the films. At its two Swiss production sites, PEV produces a range of packaging materials, varying from garbage and carrier bags to film packaging for vegetables, salads, and fruit. Their product range even includes high grade biodegradable packaging materials. PEV primarily supplies national customers, but also has customers in Germany and Austria.
Support in innovation
Petroplast Vinora buys 35,000 tons of PE on an annual basis. "SABIC is Petroplast Vinora's primary supplier. It's a beneficial partnership for both parties. We collaborate extensively, including in the field of technology. We offer them every possible technical support in the development of new, innovative product applications," says Jochen Bausch, Account Manager flexible applications for Germany, Switzerland, and Austria at SABIC Germany.
Strategic partner
"We consider SABIC to be a strategic partner. I'm convinced we will be celebrating our 25-year partnership very soon. Both parties will be facing great challenges in the years to come, which will give us the opportunity to develop new products and improve existing ones together. In this area, we can always count on SABIC," says Köppel.
"At SABIC, we don't solely focus on volume and price; instead, we take care of the entire supply chain. Our account managers are in direct contact with customers and speak with them regularly in order to understand their daily business needs. We believe that an open and honest relationship leads to tailor-made solutions," explains Bernd Naumann, Product Sales Manager, SABIC Germany.
