SABIC® PP & Samsonite
The motto of Samsonite : Suitcases must be strong enough to stand on
In 1958 Samsonite started the production of Plastic suitcases made in ABS. The next generation suitcases are made of Polypropylenes and started with the "Oyster" 1986.
Since then Samsonite and SABIC Europe are working closely together, with the result that for last 15 years, the majority of the Samsonite hard shell suitcases, are made of SABIC® PP copolymer all over the world.
This unique block-copolymer PP grade called SABIC® PP 612MK10 is part of the latest SABIC Europe innovations on injection moulding impact copolymers. Compared to traditional grades of polypropylene used in rigid pack-
aging, SABIC® PP 612MK10 offers injection moulding converters substantial cost savings by:
- Faster cycle times
- Low mould pressure
- Wall thickness reduction
- Energy savings
