Permeability The rate of which a substance (under pressure) diffuses (travels) through a plastic film due to concentration differences, without chemically or physically affecting the film. This is an important parameter for food packaging where barriers for e.g. oxygen, CO2 and water vapour are required.
Peroxide Peroxides are a group of compounds that contain the O22-ion. It is used to initiate the polymerisation for high-pressure free radical polymerisation processes.
Plasticiser Organic compound incorporated in polymers to improve the flexibility during end-use: it lowers the glass transition temperature
Polypropylenes Polypropylenes are thermoplastic polymers consisting mainly of propylene, come from a low pressure process based on catalysts and generally have a linear polymer chain.
Processability The ease with which a material can be processed (= treated to alter physical shape or properties).
